Demonstrations: Digging a deeper hole, or a lasting positive legacy?

Sound policy-making requires ability to THINK. More to the point, the kind of thinking I am referring to is following the future implications of your ideas. Have the future leaders of our country–as a group–lost, or never developed, this ability? Possibly. The following editorial is well worth reading. lost art of thinking

One of the best recent examples of this inability or unwillingness to follow the implications, or extrapolate future results, of your actions is the athlete “protests” that started with a guy named Colin Kaepernick (CK)–quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers– sitting instead of standing for the national anthem at a football game. I will use that example to illustrate the pitfalls of emotion as a form of policy-making:

  1. Fail to recognize the actual principles your actions inadvertently demonstrate: CK thought that sitting down during the anthem while all the other athletes and virtually all the fans stood, most of them respectfully, demonstrated his stand that there is too much racial injustice in this country. While that is no doubt true, that truth got lost immediately in all the inevitable counter-narratives.
  2. If a protest is intended to increase awareness of a problem, with the ultimate goal of effecting positive change, then the perception of your action is more important than your intent. (Of course, if the intention of your protest is to signal your virtue, demonstrate your anger, or merely to disrupt the status quo, ten you don’t care about perception, and no logic or reason need apply).
  3. Not only is perception crucial, but so is the venue for protest. If you want to draw attention to injustice AND effect positive change, your chosen venue should be conducive to demonstrating positive solutions AND controlling your narrative. Some venues can be, but are not always, more destructive than instructive–Twitter (unless all your principles can be summed up in 140 characters), (anti)-social media in general, public events where the interviewer and the crowd control the narrative, reactive “off-the-cuff” remarks in response to a reporter.
  4. Extrapolate how your actions are likely to be co-opted and misinterpreted by various self-interested parties, and project the probable consequnces. In this case, the parties who have co-opted, twisted, misunderstood or denied his intended message include President Trump, Black Lives Matter (BLM), some NFL owners, many fans, anyone who has another agenda. All of this was entirely predictable, as were the results: CK has no job (though he did opt out of his contract voluntarily, believing he could get a better one with another team); his intended message has been buried under an avalanche of competing messages; his fellow athletes took up his offenses in ways which were ineffective and ended up casting themselves as entitled, privileged and overpaid; enough fans were turned off by the attitudes demonstrated by the players that the game has become significantly less popular (if the trend continues on the present trajectory all the players livelihoods will be imperiled); the NFL is being mocked by the President of the United States. Good job, Colin….and the rest of you.

Now, for some suggestions:

  1. Whatever your message, write it out, over and over again, until it is refined and unequivocal, and you can deliver it in any venue effectively! This is often called your position statement or more to the point, your “elevator speech.” That means you can interest even a total stranger during an elevator ride to ask you questions. That takes self-discipline, which many protesters lack. CK’s explanations were overly generalized, kept changing and therefore ineffective.
  2. Make sure the method of “protest” or the demonstration of your beliefs doesn’t detract or confuse i.e. make it relevant! As I said, the perception of your actions is ultimately more powerful than your intent. CK’s method showed nothing, was perceived as unpatriotic by the paying customers, and his intent was primarily appreciated by his peer group–who are often perceived by the paying customers as “overpaid, entitled and privileged” athletes–making it appear that his gesture was signaling his virtue to his peers. Warrick Dunn, a former NFL all pro running back years ago, used his money and his platform to build homes for primarily minority single mothers and their children (Homes For The Holidays), scholarships, literacy programs and a training program for volunteers for his foundation (Philanthrogens), all of which are going strong after 20 years!!! warrick dunn foundation
  3. The venue for your demonstration should enhance and promote a clear understanding of your mission. Warrick Dunn is, once again, a prime example of the right venues, so when he was interviewed, it was a time and place he controlled the message (the families moving into their new homes).
  4. If the previous 3 principles are heeded, and your stand improves lives, you can extrapolate a future of being joined in your efforts–because people want to be a part of something great–instead of the mess of more protesting, more confusion, more anger. Did the CK protest produce anything positive? Oh, it got the “conversation” going? No, it got more vituperation going, more polarization.

Next to Donald Trump, this is the guy campus radicals and “social justice warriors” hate the most!

His name is Ben Shapiro, and this short post is my comments on a speech he gave at University of Tennessee, October 18, 2017. I agree with this entire speech! Purpose, again, is what gives us meaning. Purpose is what creates the pursuit of happiness that we need. It is that purpose that we can restore.”

Race relations, part 2: What are the “solutions” rooted in?

What does “racial reconciliation” look like?” Is it just a shorthand, high-sounding platitude that masks revenge or reverse oppression, or does it represent a true and honest attitude towards achieving God’s design for harmony in human relations?

I am going to start by citing an example of the WRONG WAY to approach racial reconciliation, chromosome/melanin “diversity”.  A leading Christian University, Biola, fired a white male long term exemplary employee for his chromosomes–XY–and low melanin content–caucasian level–and replaced him with a less experienced, less qualified person with a more acceptable chromosome pattern–XX–and the “proper” attitude towards melanin content, though if her melanin was greater she would have been even more welcome! biola controversy

For her doctoral studies, Deborah Taylor had conducted a racial and ethnic diversity related study of six “predominately white” Christian universities in California, including Biola University, in 2007. She interviewed faculty members about their views concerning university commitment to diversity, minority students’ experiences and their strategies when teaching students of color. Some noteworthy snippets from Taylor’s dissertation:

  • “One of the greatest powers associated with white privilege is the enjoyment of a number of unearned advantages without even recognizing or acknowledging them … Because white privilege gives White individuals the choice to ignore or engage in racial issues, perceiving its presence and understanding its implications is often difficult for White people …” (citations Page 43).
  • “First, inaccurate beliefs about diversity and cultural differences are prevalent on university campuses, and confronting these beliefs can be quite uncomfortable … Second, researchers advised that a cognitive understanding of diversity is not enough; people must experience a real change in their affective attitudes and beliefs in order for diversity initiatives (i.e. chromosome melanin–italics mine) and programs to succeed … Finally, the literature clearly indicated that changing these attitudes and beliefs among White faculty will require leading them through a process of white identity development and examination of white privilege” (citations Page 78).
  • “Although many of the current racial problems in contemporary society are rooted in painful memories of historical oppression, White evangelicals have difficulty seeing the significance of these historical factors in shaping current diversity issues … While people of color experience daily reminders of the impact of race on their efforts to succeed in American society, it seems particularly difficult for White Christians to understand the dynamics and implications of race” (citations Page 83).
  • “Due to a surprising level of ignorance regarding structural inequalities, White faculty are prone to see students of color as being individually unprepared, rather than seeing this as a societal issue of inferior school systems within many ethnic communities. (this is the one I have the most problem with–can you see Ben Carson or Thomas Sowell or Clarence Thomas or Booker T. Washington using this excuse? Mr. Washington was born a slave! Here are his own words BTW society) As a result, when a predominantly white Christian university makes a commitment to recruiting a more diverse student body, the faculty often view this as lowering the academic standards of the institution” (citations Page 67).
  • “In order for faculty at evangelical Christian institutions to fully embrace both relational and institutional change, this study confirms … that developing culturally competent faculty must be rooted in scriptural framework for diversity, racial reconciliation, and justice” (citations Page 238).

LET’S HEAR IT FOR “SCRIPTURAL FRAMEWORK. If she really believed that, she would have stood up for Dan Paschall, the guy she replaced! Three passages from the Gospels are more than sufficient to demonstrate the scriptural framework.

Matthew 5:43: You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Matthew 22:33: “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

John 13:1: Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you?  You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.  If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”

What we need in this country, this world, our communities, schools and churches is more humility and less superficial and false narratives. mr. rogers feet

Race relations: Is there any hope?

An Idea to Improve Race Relations in America: Solution Sunday

Last July, Senator Tim Scott and I began challenging our constituents in Oklahoma and South Carolina to consider participating in an Initiative called “Solution Sunday.” At the time, the nation was reeling from the race-related shootings of police officers and African-American men in Minnesota, Dallas and Baton Rouge. Our states have experienced the worst that racism brings out—for example, the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot in Oklahoma and 2015’s tragedy at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, just to name a few. However, our states today have progressed in race relations and reflect the growing cultural diversity of America.

As our nation continues to grapple with the aftermath of Charlottesville, and now the national anthem debate in the NFL, we are releasing a video that provides a solution to try to help the nation be a more UNITED States of America. Our “Solution Sunday” idea is simple – we encourage Americans to address racial tensions by engaging people of another race over meals in their home. So, we challenge each person or family to give one Sunday lunch or dinner for building relationships across racial lines. Obviously any day of the week works since the goal is to engage on the personal level of your own home to break down walls, ask questions, express concerns, and build trust across our communities.

For those looking for Washington to fix this problem, don’t hold your breath. Remember, Washington DC is a reflection of the nation, not the other way around. True change comes from our local communities. Prejudice, stereotypes, and confusion occur among many races. It is harder to stereotype when you know people first-hand. Friendships, trust, and understanding happen when we engage and learn from each other’s cultures and experiences.

Unfortunately, social media has only exasperated divisions in our nation, including race. It has become a fortress for social reinforcement instead of a place for respectful dialogue and the exchange of ideas. While it may be more convenient to remain divided, we must pursue more intentional relationships that honor one another. For those of us who are Christians, we believe that all people are created in the image of God and have worth and value. An appreciation for life and the human dignity of every person is one of the greatest legacies we can model for our community, and leave for our children and grandchildren. We must build respectful unity together, one family at a time. As Tim Scott often says, “You can’t hate what you know.” We think something like Solution Sundays may hold the key to the solutions needed for our nation. 


  • 41-year-old Robert Pattison went to introduce himself to his fellow firefighters at Engine 55 at Joy and Southfield in Detroit. Second Battalion Chief Shawn McCarty calls it a tradition for firefighters. “It’s not mandatory, it’s voluntary,” he says. “You come in bearing gifts. The usual gift is doughnuts, but you are allowed to bring whatever you want to bring in.” And Pattison, a probationary firefighter, decided to bring a watermelon wrapped in a pink ribbon. We’re told some African-American firefighters were instantly offended, since 90 percent of the people who work at Engine 55 are black. This world seems to be getting dumber and dumber by the day. It doesn’t matter that Pattison didn’t mean anything by it and didn’t mean to offend. What matters is the snowflake meltdown of the black firefighters which led to Pattison’s dismissal. I can speak from experience and say, especially at younger ages, that not everyone sees the world the same way. To some a watermelon is just a watermelon to be enjoyed by everyone.”
  • University of Mississippi: Ole Miss Greek Life leaders cut their three-day leadership retreat to nearby Camp Hopewell short after black students discovered a banana peel dangling in a tree outside of one of the camp’s cabins. Another sorority president reportedly told the newspaper that the incident was especially painful, because “bananas have historically been used to demean black people.” The newspaper reported that many of the students left the retreat “in tears” because they didn’t feel “welcome” or “safe.”Ole Miss senior Ryan Swanson, who was also in attendance at the retreat, said he discarded the banana peel in the tree because he could not find a trash receptacle. Swanson told the newspaper that he “sincerely” apologizes “for the events that took place this past weekend.” “Although unintentional, there is no excuse for the pain that was caused to members of our community,” Swanson said.
  • A lost shoelace at Michigan State University caused a racial uproar Wednesday after someone mistook it for a noose. MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon released a statement Wednesday morning saying she was “distressed” after finding out “a student reported a noose was hung outside of her room.” Simon commended the student’s “courage” for reporting the “racial incident” and put out a clear message. “This type of behavior is not tolerated on our campus,” Simon said. “No Spartan should ever feel targeted based on their race, or other ways in which they identify.” But by Wednesday afternoon, the investigation by MSU Police revealed there was no noose. Instead, they found “the object was a packaged leather shoelace and not a noose,” MSU spokesman Jason Cody said in a news release, adding that the shoelaces “are packaged in a way that someone could perceive them to look similar to a noose.” Officers tracked down and interviewed the student who lost both of the shoelaces. That student happens to live on the same floor as the one who made the report. “Also, the original shoelace found inside the residence hall was not directed at any individual,” Cody said, adding that police believe someone found the shoelace and put it on a stairwell door handle after picking it up off the floor.

What worked for Hitler is still working.

(Author’s note: All examples both “Hitlerisms”and “lefty-lib” accusations and demands are from popular websites, and I verified each from multiple sources, so as not to be accused of spreading fake news. The examples are not even the most outrageous of their ilk–this post could be book length if I included all the examples of lefty-lib accusations and demands that appeared in major media IN THE LAST WEEK ALONE!).

Just about everybody hates Hitler, even American “millennials” ignorant of everything prior to the internet know who he was….and that he was a bad guy. Just about everyone…except those who don’t–neo-nazis, white supremacists, many speeches by Donald Trump, “social justice warriors”, campus thought police, Antifa, Black Lives Matter (BLM), LGBT activists….wait what? Those last five use Hitler as the worst example of what not to be. Then explain to me why they love and use Hitler’s tactics.

Adolf Hitler rose to a place of prominence in the early years of the party. Being one of the best speakers of the party, he told the other members to either make him leader of the party or he would never return. He was aided in part by his willingness to use violence in advancing his political objectives and to recruit party members who were willing to do the same. The Beer Hall Putsch in November 1923 and the later release of his book Mein Kampf (Translation: My Struggle) introduced Hitler to a wider audience. In the mid-1920s, the party engaged in electoral battles in which Hitler participated as a speaker and organizer, as well as in street battles and violence between the Rotfrontkämpferbund and the Nazis’ Sturmabteilung (SA). Some of Hitler’s culture-war tactics were:

  • Hitler’s henchmen clashed, sometimes violently, with the people he claimed to represent. Others carried out violent acts that they thought Hitler would approve of. Hitler provoked disorder, and then claimed he was the only one capable of stopping it. In 1933, Hitler provoked violence with the social democrats and made it appear they were the instigators’. MODERN EQUIVALENT =ANTIFA.
  • At this point in his career, Hitler began to unleash his propaganda upon all of Germany. He had previously used his persuasiveness to further himself in the Nazi Party and to gain supporters, but it was not until he was dictator that that his persuasive style was fully manifested. Adolf Hitler’s persuasive method was built upon the foundation of treating the German people as a group, rather than as individuals. He explained this technique in the following statementThe receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan. As soon as you sacrifice this slogan and try to be many-sided, the effect will piddle away, for the crowd can neither digest nor retain the material offered.”  MODERN EQUIVALENT =IDENTITY POLITICS (“social justice warriors”, campus thought police, Antifa, Black Lives Matter).
  • Hitler and the Nazi Party treated the German people as if they were one entity, because individuals are rational, think for themselves, and are concerned about their own well-being; whereas groups are unintelligent and easily persuaded. Sigmund Freud stated that groups tend to have the characteristics of “weakness of intellectual ability,…lack of emotional restraint,…incapacity for moderation and delay, [and] the inclination to exceed every limit in the expression of emotion.”
  • Hitler and the Nazis recognized that if the German people had a group mentality they would be much more receptive to Nazi ideology and propaganda. To reinforce this mindset in the German people, or Volk, the Nazis held events that required mass participation and did not invite individuality, such as “parades, mass meetings, semi-religious rituals, [and] festivals” Anyone who did not openly participate or share the emotion of the rest of the crowd was easily identified and dealt with by either the crowd itself or by security personnel. One did not even have to be resistant or cause a disturbance to be viewed as subversive; indifference alone was enough to infuriate the crowd. MODERN EQUIVALENT = “SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS”
  • Freud said that a crowd demands “strength or even violence” of its leaders: “It wants to be ruled and oppressed and to fear its master”. Hitler’s inordinate use of trigger words helped him to maintain the support and attention of his audiences and allowed them to get exceedingly excited about his speeches. These words added to Hitler’s tactics of persuasion by creating word association. When referring to Germany, he used words that conveyed strength. When speaking about enemy nations or about Jews and Marxists, he used words that alluded to weakness. MODERN TRIGGER WORDS =TRUMP, WHITE SUPREMACISTS, PRIVILEGE, FASCIST, NAZI.
  • Another technique Hitler employed in his speeches was the “either-or” fallacy. By creating a false dilemma in the mind of his audience, he was able to convince them that although something was unethical, it was the only option. The shallow nature of the group was not able to comprehend that a statement such as “either the German people annihilate the Jews or the Jews will enslave them” is not logically true. According to Bosamajian, “either-or” dilemmas “appealed to the crowd mentality…because of the definiteness and strength in the ‘either-or’ presentation. MODERN EQUIVALENT = CAMPUS THOUGHT POLICE.
  • Nazi terror was conducted with remarkable openness because it won them public approval. Germans generally turned out to be proud and pleased that Hitler and his henchmen were putting away certain kinds of people who did not fit in, or who were regarded as “outsiders”, “asocials”, “useless eaters”, or “criminals”.  Many ordinary Germans not only supported Nazi terror passively, but actually helped make it possible with a ‘flood of denunciations’ to the police. MODERN EQUIVALENT = LGBT ACTIVISTS LIKE “HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN” (but substitute “Christians” for the words in quotes above) IF THEY COULD GET AWAY WITH IT.

What, you don’t believe me? Want examples? Let’s start with the false equivalency rhetoric comparing the Boy Scouts with Nazis, and by association, Donald Trump with Hitler.

From Newsweek, 7/24/2017: “President Donald Trump brought his bombastic politics to a Boy Scouts event Monday in West Virginia, drawing cheers from the children gathered at the event and prompting comparisons between his rousing rhetoric and Nazi youth rallies from some liberal activists and journalistsThe president, the first sitting U.S. commander-in-chief to address the group since George W. Bush, used his speech to slam the “fake news,” demand loyalty from administration officials and advocate for the overhaul of federal health care. He spoke to about 40,000 people at the Boy Scouts of America 2017 National Scout Jamboree. ‘As the scout law says, a scout is trustworthy, loyal,’ Trump said, before adding, ‘We could use some more loyalty, I will tell you that.’ As he spoke, the crowd chanted ‘U.S.A’ and applauded, prompting some critics of the president, who has the lowest approval ratings in modern history, to compare his rhetoric to the Hitler Youth, a wing of Germany’s Nazi party.”

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), an LGBT-advocacy group, owns a 60,000-square-foot, glass-walled building on Rhode Island Avenue in the heart of Washington, D.C. In 2002, the group issued its first Corporate Equality Index, a survey of 319 large companies. HRC gave high grades to companies with domestic-partnership health insurance and nondiscrimination policies regarding sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. Only 13 companies scored 100 percent. The next year, 21 companies received perfect scores.

In those early days, HRC talked about fairness to all employees. A high score showed companies were interested in recruiting talent regardless of sexual preference. Each year more companies filled out the survey. In 2006, HRC rated 446 companies, and 136 earned a 100. Companies issued press releases to announce their perfect scores. Then HRC raised the bar, adding transgender-inclusive health coverage and more comprehensive domestic partnership benefits to the criteria. Corporations received points for LGBT marketing and ad campaigns and official corporate support for LGBT rights. Over time, HRC moved from advocating LGBT equality to demanding that corporations discriminate against suppliers, charities, and local and state governments that don’t bow to their demands.

HRC now demands that corporations consider LGBT persons part of a “Protected Class.” Companies that follow HRC’s line include household names such as McDonald’s, State Farm, DuPont, UPS, Allstate, Caterpillar, FedEx, and Apple—but there are a few exceptions. Home Depot listed Operation Blessing and Convoy of Hope among the groups receiving its $1 million post-Harvey donation. Walmart listed Convoy of Hope as among nonprofits to which it would send cash and products. Pharmaceutical company McKesson donated to World Vision. For decades most large corporations, unsurprisingly, have not made grants to churches, but to satisfy HRC demands they must prohibit philanthropic giving to relief or anti-poverty groups that maintain Biblical standards.

A school board in Oregon has voted to remove the name ‘Lynch’ from some school buildings after the name was deemed offensive. According to reports, the Centennial School Board voted Wednesday night to change the names of three elementary schools in the district. The move by the school board stemmed from concerns over use of what they deemed to be ‘offensive language.’

According to reports, school district officials said some students and local families had complained that the name “Lynch” made them think of the word, lynch, and the racist connotation behind it. For now, Lynch Wood Elementary and Lynch Meadows Elementary schools will be temporarily changed to Wood Elementary and Meadows Elementary, pending new names for both schools, KGW in Portland reports. Lynch View Elementary will be changed to Patrick Lynch Elementary school.

The schools were named for the Lynch family that donated the land over a century ago. Good grief it’s just a family name! It has nothing to do with the racist act of lynching black people. If it weren’t for this Lynch family these schools would likely not even exist. If nationwide school officials and administrators keep bending over backward to accommodate these triggered students, they are never going to grow up and stop wearing diapers. They are going suckling babies until someone has the audacity to slap reality into their triggered faces.

  • In a new video, Ami Horowitz hits the streets to find out what’s rattling around in the younger generation’s collective mind on the hot button millennial topics of income inequality and socialism — particularly, the socialist utopia Venezuela, which is experiencing economic collapse, prompting crisis-level food shortages and the eruption of violence on the streets. Horowitz ended up finding what anyone paying any attention to the Democratic presidential primary last year will not be surprised to learn: the generation which adores “Democratic socialist” Bernie Sanders hates income inequality so much that they’d be glad to stand in Venezuelan-style food lines so others could have as little as them.

An October 2016 survey by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation found that 45% of millennials would vote for an open socialist and 21% said they would vote for a communist. A majority, 53%, said that capitalism “works against me.” Nearly a third, 32%, thought George W. Bush was responsible for the deaths of more people than Josef Stalin, while only a quarter of them “knew that communism is responsible for the slaughter of over 100 million people.” That’s liberal education at work.

  • Black Lives Matter of Minneapolis is apologizing for spreading photos of a man who committed suicide by hanging himself in a public park in St. Paul, Minnesota. BLM Minneapolis and BLM St. Paul had separately repeated unsubstantiated claims the man was the victim of a lynching. When the coroner stated the death was a suicide and that the man’s hands had not been tied, Black Lives Matter of St. Paul disputed it and continued pushing the claim the man had been lynched. So Bringle’s hands were not tied behind his back, he had mental health issues that led to his suicide and, oh yeah, he was white. Other than that, BLM did a great job with this story.
  • Ole Miss Greek Life leaders cut their three-day leadership retreat to nearby Camp Hopewell short after black students discovered a banana peel dangling in a tree outside of one of the camp’s cabins. The banana peel was later spotted by Alpha Kappa Alpha President, Makala McNeil, a leader from one of the campus’s historically black sororities. The Daily Mississippian reported that McNeil had just left a group discussion about race relations when she spotted the banana peel in the tree. “The overall tone [of the meeting] was heavy,” McNeil told the newspaper. “I mean, we were talking about race in Mississippi and in the Greek community so there’s a lot involved.” She added that she and her friends were “all just sort of paranoid for a second” after noticing the banana peel, calling its appearance “so strange and surreal.” Alexa Lee Arndt, Interim Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Ole Miss, noted that an open forum was held after news of the banana peel had spread throughout the camp. “As the staff member responsible for the wellbeing of our community, I felt it was imperative to provide space immediately to students affected by this incident to allow them an opportunity to voice their pain and concern,” Arndt told the newspaper. After the open forum, Greek Life leaders decided to cancel the remainder of the weekend. Another sorority president reportedly told the newspaper that the incident was especially painful, because “bananas have historically been used to demean black people.” The newspaper reported that many of the students left the retreat “in tears” because they didn’t feel “welcome” or “safe.” Ole Miss senior Ryan Swanson, who was also in attendance at the retreat, said he discarded the banana peel in the tree because he could not find a trash receptacle.
  • A Black Lives Matter leader from Louisville, Kentucky, is demanding white people pay for their inherent sin of being white by adhering to a 10-point list of demands, which includes small gestures like giving up your home and leaving your property to a minority family when you die. Chanelle Helm, the co-founder of Black Lives Matter-Louisville, penned the list of radical demands in Leo Weekly following the rally-turned-fatal riot in Charlottesville, Virginia, last weekend. In the first six demands, Helm focuses on white people giving up their property and money to poor minorities, since white people are “bound to make that money in some other white privileged way”:

1. White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty. 

2. White people, if you’re inheriting property you intend to sell upon acceptance, give it to a black or brown family. You’re bound to make that money in some other white privileged way.

3. If you are a developer or realty owner of multi-family housing, build a sustainable complex in a black or brown blighted neighborhood and let black and brown people live in it for free.

4. White people, if you can afford to downsize, give up the home you own to a black or brown family. Preferably a family from generational poverty.

5. White people, if any of the people you intend to leave your property to are racists assholes, change the will, and will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably a family from generational poverty.

6. White people, re-budget your monthly so you can donate to black funds for land purchasing.

7. White people, especially white women (because this is yaw specialty — Nosey Jenny and Meddling Kathy), get a racist fired. Yaw know what the f*** they be saying. You are complicit when you ignore them. Get your boss fired cause they racist too,” reads demand number seven. 

8. Backing up No. 7, this should be easy but all those sheetless Klan, Nazi’s and Other lil’ d***-white men will all be returning to work. Get they ass fired. Call the police even: they look suspicious. 

9. OK, backing up No. 8, if any white person at your work, or as you enter in spaces and you overhear a white person praising the actions from yesterday, first, get a pic. Get their name and more info. Hell, find out where they work — Get Them Fired. But certainly address them, and, if you need to, you got hands: use them.

10. Commit to two things: Fighting white supremacy where and how you can (this doesn’t mean taking up knitting, unless you’re making scarves for black and brown kids in need), and funding black and brown people and their work.

This is a brilliant plan by Helms; everyone knows the best way to fight phantom racism is to engage in open racism yourself. JUST SUBSTITUTE “JEWS” FOR “WHITE PEOPLE” AND YOU HAVE WHAT THE NAZIS ACTUALLY IMPLEMENTED….FORCEFULLY! WHAT IF THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HER PLAN AND HITLER’S WAS THE POWER TO IMPLEMENT IT BY FORCE?

When virtue turns toxic: The modern Pharisee.

Jesus Christ is the model of human kindness and virtue, but He wasn’t kind to everyone. In Luke 18 He tells a parable to illustrate what manner of person He had the most contempt for:  He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.  I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”  If that is not clear enough, He used the word “hypocrites” liberally,  Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.  You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! What makes one a modern Pharisee, ripe for Jesus’ condemnation? The phrase is “virtue signaling”–I want everyone to know how virtuous I am that I can spew poison words and no one will challenge my righteousness. HERE IS A MAJOR CASE STUDY: On October 4, 2017, a gunman shooting from a high floor of the Mandalay Bay casino/hotel in Las Vegas killed 58 and wounded almost 500 concertgoers at an outdoor Country Music festival. These are the facts; notice I have not ascribed motives or any other judgments to the massacre. Then comes the virtue signaling:

Hayley Geftman-Gold has been fired from CBS for writing on Facebook that she has no sympathy for Vegas victims. After a gunman opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sunday and killed at least 59 people and sent more than 500 to the hospital she went on Facebook to say she didn’t feel bad for the victims.  ‘If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs (sic) will ever do the right thing,’ she wrote in a post that was captured by the Daily Caller but has now been deleted. ‘I’m actually not even sympathetic bc (sic) country music fans often are Republican gun toters (sic).’

Then there is Cass on Twitter @xsadcassie, after a gunman shot Rep. Steve Scalise at a baseball game:no i don’t feel bad republicans were shot at don’t @ me i don’t feel bad for people that think i should die.” More tweets about the same subject: “Republicans created this hate-filled rhetoric & now bitching about one of their own getting shot. Oh PLEASE!” @HallieJackson. “It’s a shame more Republicans weren’t shot— what to heck ????” (@itsrealH). Of course, the virtuous have to raise the issue of race. @ShaunKing “Only in America can whiteness prevent the man who conducted the deadliest mass shooting in American history from being called a terrorist.”

“Hate-filled rhetoric, did I just read? Created by whom? Jesus called them blind–blind to their own hatred and filth, blind to their love of violence and slogans rather than dialogue and solutions. Toxic virtue. Then there is Taylor Winston, Jen Lewis and Phelps Amelsberg–heroes. heroes In the aftermath of every disaster there are the toxic talkers, and the action heroes. Which will you be?


This is what happens when “mission creep” encompasses everything but the mission.

When our US Constitution was ratified, there were 3 federal crimes: TREASON, counterfeiting and piracy. Why only 3? Because the MISSION of our central (federal) government was very simple (and Biblical): PROTECT AND DEFEND the law-abiding and PUNISH the evildoers. Those are the explicitly stated purposes and responsibilities of the “civil magistrate” in the Bible–the sphere of authority known as civil government.  When the narrower spheres of authority–self-government, family government, church government–lack the temporal power (force, if you will) to protect and defend the republic itself, the civil government’s national enforcement arm–the military–steps up to do the job. Or at least it did….before “mission creep” eroded the military’s ability to do the job right, that is, to win.

What started with a miraculous, and probably God ordained, victory over the world’s most powerful military (the British) by a ragtag, impoverished and inexperienced band of farmers and tradesmen optimistically called the “Continental Army”, ended April 30,  1975 in the defeat of the world’s most powerful military (us!) at the hands of a mostly ragtag, impoverished band of farmers called the “Vietcong” (though with considerable help from the North Vietnamese Army and logistical suppport from China and the USSR.)

How did that happen? Mission creep! Instead of defending the republic from a “clear and present danger”, our military tried to prop up corrupt dominoes (illegitimate regimes) to prevent the spread of “international Communism” (which would prove to be self-bankrupting) and bring “democracy” to people with no religious foundation, cultural history or supporting structures of self-government. That was bad enough, and we are making the same mistake in the Islamic world. Even worse, we are now using our military for social experimentation instead of it’s REAL MISSION, as the following column demonstrates. After nearly a decade under President Faily McWorsethancarter, can our military win a fight with North Korea? Because if it is unable to perform the basic task of ensuring that the people commissioned to lead our troops in the defense of the United States are actually loyal to the United States, how the hell can we reasonably expect it to be able to conduct high-intensity combat operations against a Nork Army that prioritizes fighting over political correctness? We can’t.

I don’t enjoy saying that – it gives me no pleasure to have to wonder whether the Army I served in both in active and reserve status for close to 28 years is broken. And it’s not just the Army. The Marines and the Special Ops community, well, they seem to be holding on to the standards the rest have forgotten, but the Navy and the Air Force – they’re broken too. Our military – in terms of strategy, equipment, and leadership, is in crisis. American troops will die if we don’t fix it. Hell, they already have. Our sailors, the precious young men and women we commissioned officers are charged with leading and protecting, are dying because our officer corps tolerates incompetence. One collision is an accident. Two is a lifestyle.

And yeah, they’ve fired some admirals, and that’s a good start, but the problem iscultural rot, not just one ‘ed-up command. The Navy focused on things besides its mission – “to maintain, train and equip combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas” – and in the last few months that misplaced focus has killed 17 sailors and taken two major vessels out of action in the Western Pacific at the very moment we are on the edge of war.

Did you know several senior Navy officers are being or have been charged for corruption? Corruption. Graft. Bribes. Hookers. Senior leaders, and they’re criminal scumbags. But hey, the Army has its problems too. General Petraeus…sheesh, what a punch in the gut it was to see him use the Army values as a latrine. Then there was the 82nd Airborne general court martialed for using his billet to build himself a sex harem. And how about the colonel who played games with contracts and ditched his wife to marry an Iraqi chick – the Army was so upset he got a reprimand and to keep his pension. No jail time. Let me say that again. No jail time. Yeah, that would totally have happened to a sergeant who did the same thing, according to several high-ranking unicorns in the Judge Advocate Office. Want to know what generals and admirals don’t get in trouble for? Failing to win wars.

The military senior leadership has turned into a fraternity, where they cover up for each other and make sure everyone graduates with a gentleman’s “C”. And it’s not even a fun fraternity – the senior leadership is painfully politically correct, parroting all the right buzzwords and receive wisdom of our failed ruling caste. Many of these people are courageous on the battlefield – they’ll happily charge a Taliban warrior wielding an AK-47. But they quake in their boots back home in the face of an enemy they don’t understand and that can destroy their careers – the Social Justice Warrior. That’s why you don’t see them saying what every damn one of them knows is true – that women, despite their heart and commitment, are a net liability in ground combat units, that trans troops are an expensive distraction and damaging to morale, and that the insane focus on “diversity” programs sucks up priceless training time and fuels, rather than quells, discord in the ranks.

But they don’t dare object. That’d be risky. And these are the senior leaders who we will allow to lead our sons and daughters in battle if Korea goes hot. How’s your confidence level? And we have now reached the pinnacle of the military’s moral bankruptcy with the revelation that one Second Lieutenant Spenser Rapone is a communist. Not like a wannabe communist, not like a routine college-years liberal dummy, but a full-on, dictatorship-of-the-proletariat communist. While at West Point.

Yeah, and the Academy knew. The chain of command knew what this guy was, because he told them (Army alumni have done the job the MSM, which probably sympathizes with this idiot, has failed to do, digging up plenty about him and putting it out on social media). But the Academy let this creep slide through anyway. They let a guy who unequivocally stated his hatred for this country get a security clearance. Then they gave Rapone a commission as a United States Army officer. And they did it knowing who he was, because in the leftist-loving environment Obama created, they were terrified to throw the bum out on his Marx. Hell, he felt comfortable enough to post this all on social media, and the Army chain of command didn’t act until we outside the military made a stink and it had to do something.


You’ve seen the photo of this disgrace wearing a Che t-shirt under his uniform and showing it off. Question: Who took the photo? He was with other cadets so some other cadet saw it and did nothing – doesn’t West Point have an honor code, or is honor now a microaggression? Imagine how interested CNN and the Democrats would suddenly be if his undergarment icon was Hitler, or even Robert E. Lee, instead of the racist, gay-murdering dorm room darling of the campus commies. “But, he has a right to express his…”

No, he doesn’t. A United States officer cannot be a communist, or a Nazi, or a jihadist. These vile allegiances are incompatible with military service, and we are under no moral obligation to enter into a suicide pact by letting these vermin into our officer corps. Haven’t enough people died, like at Fort Hood, because the chain of command was too cowardly to risk getting called jihadiphobic to get rid of an insider threat? Apparently not. Well, we’re not obligated to keep this America-hating cretin in either.

There’s an investigation going on to gather evidence to see if charges are warranted. If charges are filed, 2LT Rapone will get the due process rights punks like him would deny to others – including due process rights Democrats would deny college students accused of sex abuse.

If what appears true is true, Soon-To-Be Mr. Rapone needs to do time before he’s booted – you can’t have LTs posting obscenities about the SecDef and let that slide and still have a disciplined Army. But the real story isn’t this one loser. It’s not even the other losers who knew what he was and said and did nothing. It’s the chain of command. We need to know exactly what the faculty and staff at West Point knew about Comrade Cadet Rapone’s treachery. If they did know – and I bet we will find out that he was counseled in writing about it – every officer from his first line supervisor to the USMA Superintendent must be relieved and reprimanded. West Point is supposed to be the heart of the Army, but we may find that, after the pernicious influence of Obama and his ilk, it won’t even take its own side in a fight.

This is a symptom of a bigger disease. The Army, and the military in general, has lost its way. Fortunately, we have a president who actually loves America and a Secretary of Defense who is a warrior. They need to set the standard and make examples – you get more of what’s rewarded, less of what’s punished. Let’s reward leadership, not careerism. Let’s demand moral courage, and not tolerate careerist cowardice. The lives of our troops, and our country’s survival depends on it.
