Oh Canada, where did freedom go?

I am as real as a transgender

Government bureaucrats and their totalitarian minions cannot resist oozing into every nook and cranny of family life. Canada’s Ontario province has passed legislation that allows the government to seize children from families that refuse to accept their child’s chosen “gender identity” or “gender expression. “The so-called Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act of 2017, or Bill 89, requires child protection, foster, adoption service providers, and judges to take into account and respect a child’s “race, ancestry, place of origin, color, ethnic origin, citizenship, family diversity, disability, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.”

The bill replaces the Child and Family Services Act, or Bill 28, which governs child protection, foster care and adoption services. Bill 28 stated that the parent of a child in care retains the right “to direct the child’s education and religious upbringing.” However, the new law amends it thus: “to direct the child or young person’s education and upbringing, in accordance with the child’s or young person’s creed, community identity and cultural identity.”

What exactly is “community identity?” Whatever it is–or isn’t–such a slippery concept apparently allows the serpent of totalitarian overreach to ooze into any relationship. In April, a Christian couple filed a lawsuit against Hamilton Children’s Aid Society for removing two foster children from their home because they refused to lie to the girls by saying that the Easter bunny is real. The eligibility of the Baars was canceled and the children were taken away. The CAS worker, who insisted that the Baars teach the kids that the Easter bunny is genuine, told them that the Easter bunny was an important part of Canadian culture. Huh? I see plenty of red maple leaves in Canadian culture but never an Easter bunny. And that word Easter, doesn’t that threaten Canadian culture?

Enter Wikipedia: Easter, also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded by Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance (for Roman Catholics anyway). So Easter itself is incompatible with present day totalitarian Canadian culture, but the bunny is okay. Sure, no problem.

While the original intent of Bill 89 was to prevent parents from being the adult in their children’s lives should the kids identify as something they aren’t, it shape-shifted into materializing the Easter bunny, so what’s next? Does anyone NOT see that the actual agenda is to exert bureaucratic, government, totalitarian control over every aspect of life? First Ontario, then Canada, then the world. LGBTQ was the leading edge of this intrusion. Transgenderism slithered into view, and was not repulsed, Bill 89 and it’s cousins in Scotland and Australia began coiling around the legs, and you’ll be surprised once you are having trouble breathing? Duh, something long and slithering is coiled around your chest. The time to blow the snake’s head up with a shotgun was when it’s head first appeared in the tent. Once it’s around your chest the shotgun is kind of risky.

A grandmother in Thailand had a terrifying moment when a different kind of snake, a python, slithered into her bedroom and bit her foot as she slept. Kaew Sudsopha, 75, from Bangkok, Thailand, was in bed when the deadly serpent slipped through pipework into her room in the early hours on Wednesday. CCTV installed by her son to monitor the pensioner shows the snake moving across the tiles, its eyes aglow as it sizes up its victim. Kaew said: ”I thought I was having a nightmare. There was a sharp pain in my foot and I woke up. I turned on the torch and noticed something moving on the floor. That’s when I saw the snake.” I included this vignette because it is good preparation for imagining the snake of totalitarianism that even now is greedily, eyes aglow, sizing you up. Will you fight or succumb?
